BALLAST ON A STICK

This ballast technique has been used for several years on Addiction, Compulsion and Sapphire models.

The red sticks have been drilled to accept the CF tubes. The bottom weight is a "field" emergency fix with the lead taped to the CF stick. A wooden dowel will also work. Note the brass fittings on the red weights. These are drilled to accept a thumb screw that attaches the weight to the servo tray. The weights can be held in place with a piece of tape wrapped around the dowel and around the fuse. Installed, the weights rest on the tow hook, just a bit (1/8 in) forward of the CG. They need not be attached to the tow hook, but you can stuff a piece of foam in the fuse to eliminate the rattle.

Placing the ballast on top of the fuse, locates the proper position for the anchor screw or the place to tape the dowell.

Ballast located in the fuse ready for blind nut installation or perhaps just a mark where it will be taped to the fuse if needed.
